Nancy Margaret Reid is a theoretical statistician from Canada.

Reid was educated at Waterloo University, Stanford University and the University of British Columbia.

She was an associate professor at the University of British Columbia from 1980 to 1985, joining the University of Toronto and remaining there since then. In 1997, she served as President of the Mathematical Statistics Institute and in 2004-5 of the Statistical Society of Canada.

Reid examines the foundations and properties of statistical inference methods in order to find out how inferential statements can accurately and efficiently sum up complex data sets.

Reid received the COPSS Presidential Award in 1992, the Krieger – Nelson Award in 1995, the Gold Medal of the Statistical Society of Canada and the David Award of the Florence Nightingale in 2009, and the 2013 Distinguished Service Award of the statistician society of Canada. In 2001, she was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and also a Fellow of the Mathematical Statistics Institute. She was elected in 2015 to the Royal Society of Edinburgh and to the National Academy of Sciences in 2016. She was elected a Royal Society Fellow in 2018.
