Matthias Zeppelzauer
I am a professor and senior researcher at the Institute of Creative Media Technologies (ICMT) at University of Applied Sciences, St. Pölten, Austria since 2013. From 2011 to 2015, I further worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Interactive Media Systems (IMS) Group at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien). I received my Master of Sciences in Computer Science and my Master in Business Informatics in 2005 and 2006, as well as my PhD in Computer Science from Vienna University of Technology in 2011, all three with highest distinction.
My research focuses on multimedia information retrieval, pattern recognition, computer vision and human-centered machine learning. I was involved intensively in the acquisition and execution of numerous basic and applied research projects at national and international levels. Until today, I raised more than 3 million Euro of third party funding. I am an active member of the research community and act as a reviewer for numerous high-impact conferences and journals. I am a lecturer for undergraduate and graduate programs and a mentor for younger researchers. I received several performance scholarships from the Vienna University of Technology and was awarded by the Austrian Computer Society for outstanding achievements in the area of pattern recognition.
